Renovation of the New Yorker Apartment Building

under review

The century-old New Yorker apartment building at 3521 Baltimore Ave. in Kansas City, listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the local Hyde Park register, was planned for renovations including window replacements and HVAC additions. However, an inspection in June 2026 found the building in significant disrepair with fire damage, mold, structural deficiencies, and exterior damage, leading to it being deemed unsafe and unfit for habitation. The city is reviewing the findings and determining next steps.
