Renovation, upgrade and expansion of the library

The project consists of extending the municipal library by 200m2, as well as renovating and redeveloping its existing part (2508 m2). It is located at 12001, boulevard De Salaberry. The work mainly concerns the addition of study rooms and spaces for reading, the expansion of the youth section, the development of the main entrance and the reorganization of targeted spaces in the library aimed at improving functionalities and universal accessibility. More specifically, the works include: • Construction work (foundations - exterior cladding - roof) for the expansion of the youth section and reconstruction of outdoor spaces; • Interior finishing (floor coverings, walls and partitions); • Construction of a mezzanine in the atrium to add workspaces; • Development of reading and study spaces (“adult” and “adolescent” spaces); • Redevelopment of the main entrance, workspaces, audiovisual and circulation area; • Replacement of sanitary equipment; • Bringing fire protection up to standard; • Installation of a radio frequency identification (RFID) system to manage collections and returns by conveyor; • Ergonomic redesign and expansion of fixed furniture and circulation areas; • Redevelopment aimed at universal accessibility, in particular the entrance hall doors; • Integration of a work of art. The architectural, mechanical, electrical, civil and structural engineering works as well as the fire protection measures will take place in accordance with the specifications.
