Description

Description

The Repair, Rehabilitation and Accessibility Improvement of Herbert H. Carnegie Arena (the Project) consists of repairs and accessibility upgrades to improve the quality, accessibility and lifespan of the arena infrastructure. The project involves the replacement of the existing rink slab, windows, doors, frames, flooring, Zamboni slab, millwork, benches, trophy cases, electrical and mechanical systems, plumbing fixtures, interior and exterior signage and security systems. It also involves the upgrading of existing washrooms and change rooms to comply with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and the supply of a new elevator on the second floor of the arena. The Project will result in improved access and/or quality of community, cultural, and/or recreation infrastructure for approximately 50,000 people annually. City of Toronto residents are expected to benefit from a safe and enriched facility which fosters social cohesion and active living and provides opportunities for learn to skate programs (including hockey, sledge hockey and figure skating), youth ice sports, and public skating.
