Description

Description

The project will evaluate alternative equipment (e.g. Muffin Monster Grinder) and install the preferred alternative solution. The Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP) services approximately 29,000 residents in the Town of Orangeville. The Inlet Works building provides the first stages of wastewater treatment. A compactor was installed in the Inlet Works building in 2011 as part of a major capital improvement project at the WPCP. Components of the compactor have failed almost constantly since it was brought online in 2011. The first failure occurred in 2012, and over $40,000 has been spent on repairs in the past 2.5 years (outside of the warranty period). Almost the entire unit has been already replaced even though the useful life was estimated to be 25 years at time of installation. The operators continue to have problems with this equipment despite the on-going repairs and maintenance. Not having a properly working debris removal system at the headworks leads to numerous operational issues.
