Description

Description

This project involves the demolition and complete re-build of the Aboriginal Family Centre. The centre, run by a not-for-profit - the Labrador Friendship Centre - will serve the children and parents of the First Nations of Labrador, the residents of Happy Valley-Goose Bay and the surrounding community of North West River. With services and programs similar to pre-school, the centre aims to foster the spiritual, emotional, intellectual and physical growth of children. The project works include: - Demolition of the current building; - Construction of a 1-story, 3,930 ft2 building; and, - All related works (e.g. grading, utilities connection). The purpose of this project is to provide the community with a safe and reliable building where children can learn, grow and socialize. The current building is in very poor condition and has had previous health concerns such as mould. The replacement of the current building will support improved access to community, culture and recreation infrastructure in the community and will help enrich the lives of the Inuit, Innu, and Metis of Labrador.
