Description

Description

This is to design and construct for the replacement of the old troublesome Return Activated Sludge Pumps at the 10,800 m3 capacity Wallaceburg Water Pollution Control Plant Constructed in 1990. Pump system would be upgraded to centrifugal pumps instead of screw pumps replacement. The new design provides the following advantages and improvements compared to the existing system: - using centrifugal pumps which have higher efficiency than screw pumps resulting in power savings - more pumping units operated by variable frequency drives allows operating the equipment more efficiently resulting in power savings - more pumping units provide better redundancy - new equipment is located inside and is easily accessible for maintenance - improved safety of operations - there is no splashing sewage by screw pumps - improved health and safety
