We have two automated gates at our 2012 First Street Louth maintenance facility. Both of these gates were installed in 2006 and were not designed for their current use. In 2006, there was little to no traffic around the building and so the gates were left open all day and closed each night. Now there is a lot more traffic and people in the area. Description

Description

We have two automated gates at our 2012 First Street Louth maintenance facility. Both of these gates were installed in 2006 and were not designed for their current use. In 2006, there was little to no traffic around the building and so the gates were left open all day and closed each night. Now there is a lot more traffic and people in the area. Therefore we require automated gates that are built and designed to be opened and closed many times on a daily basis. We have $40,000 to upgrade our gates from our 2016 Municipal capital budget. However, upon review of our current gates with multiple contractors we have concluded that to upgrade both gates to the proper standards requires a much larger investment than the $40,000 we originally budgeted. The cost is more than double what we anticipated. The main objective of this project is to provide better security for our staff and assets at the garage and maintenance facility.
