Description | The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) completed a technical analysis recommending the replacement of the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge with a fixed bridge having a horizontal clearance of 450 feet and a vertical clearance of 135 feet to avoid adverse effects to the project. The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is considering two alternatives for the replacement: Alternative B with a vertical clearance of 135 feet and Alternative C with a vertical clearance ranging from 100 to 135 feet. The project cost estimate has increased to $1.1 billion from the previously reported $450 million. |
