Description
Description | The main objective of the project is to replace approximately 150 m (two pipe runs) of 450 mm diameter sanitary sewer, which runs diagonally from approximately 40 m south of the intersection of Fourth Street and Hollywood Avenue, northeasterly to the 600 mm diameter main trunk sewer at the intersection of Sixth Street and Hollywood Avenue. In addition, a suspected watermain leak in the vicinity of the sanitary sewer will be located and repaired. The existing pipe is vitrified clay material, installed in the early 1900’s (1910 to 1920) and is badly cracked throughout, with deformed and broken sections (as evidenced by recent camera survey). There also appears to be a watermain leak in the vicinity of the sanitary sewer crossing at Fifth Street, since there is a heavy flow of water entering the pipe approximately 10 to 15 m downstream of the manhole at Fifth Street. This is a main trunk sewer line, which picks up all of the Smooth Rock Falls Town site area east of Fourth Street. Since any disruption in flow, due to blocked or collapsed pipes, would affect all residents in this area, it is essential that this line be replaced as soon as possible |
