Description

Description

As identified in the Municipality’s Water & Wastewater Master Servicing Plan, the replacement of the existing 2 pumps inside the pump station is required as both pumps have reached the end of their useful lifespan. Pumping Station #2, located on the Wastewater Treatment property, was originally constructed during the mid 1980’s. The station has operated well and the dual pumps are becoming worn due to incoming abrasive debris. These existing pumps are to be replaced with chopper pumps in order to reduce the fouling of the pump and to optimize the pumping capacity. The Wastewater User Pay Capital Budget can only include funding for the replacement of 1 pump in 2017 as there are other projects committed to in 2017. The use of the CWWF will ensure that both pumps are replaced at the same time and will achieve engineering and replacement economies of scale by replacing both pumps at the same time.
