Description | The project involves replacing the Old Vaucluse Road overpass bridge over Interstate 20 in Aiken County, South Carolina. The original bridge collapsed on June 14, 2025, after being hit by a tanker truck carrying gasoline which caught fire. The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) crews have been working on the replacement since March 2026, with the project nearing completion and expected to be finished by May 21, 2026. Recent work includes pouring concrete parapet walls and preparing for paving. Nightly lane closures on I-20 are planned to remove temporary structures from the new bridge. |
