Description

Description

This proposed upgrade will see the replacement of a single train of membranes at Raymond A. Barker Water Treatment Plant in order to increase treatment capacity and output supply of the Plant to meet the long-term water demands of Town of New Tecumseth (providing drinking water to a population of 24,800 for Alliston and Beeton). Drinking water is currently provided to Alliston and Beeton via a pipeline from Collingwood. The existing membranes have reached the end of their useful life and New Tecumseth is obligated to cost share in rehabilitation projects at the Raymond A. Barker Water Treatment Plant as outlined in the Primary Water Supply Agreement. The upgrades to the membranes will maintain treatment capacity levels and allow an increase in supply to the Town to meet the current water demands and long-term supply needs. Original timeframe for this upgrade was scheduled for 2018, and as a result of this funding the project can now be advanced, allowing for earlier implementation and ensuring the security of supply for the Town of New Tecumseth, including primary employers and essential health services such as Honda Manufacturing of Canada, Baxter Corporation, and Alliston Memorial Hospital.
