Replacement of the generator

The project will eliminate/minimize the risk of interrupting ventilation systems and therefore, increase outdoor air intake and/or increase air cleaning. This project stems from the lessons learned during the pandemic. The project consists of replacing the existing generator which is well past its useful life. This automatically implies replacing the related equipment, i.e. distribution panel and primary tanks. In addition, a centralization of controls will allow a much faster response to the crisis. These systems are very critical to ensure backup power in the event of a power outage and to maintain the facility’s ventilation systems, particularly the critical ventilation systems (portable negative pressure) which currently have no emergency mode capability. In addition, electrical load shedding on emergency allows for better management of loads on vital systems: medical air compressors, suction as well as the ability to install portable units. The work was done entirely inside an existing building, the CHSLD Saint-Margaret.
