Description | The VSB Group has connected the Repowering Wind Farm Elster to the grid, with an installed capacity of 105.6 megawatts. This project is one of the largest repowering projects in Europe, increasing energy output sixfold compared to the original site using state-of-the-art turbine technology. The new wind farm produces 235 gigawatt hours of electricity per year, enough to supply around 67,000 three-person households. The project involved dismantling legacy turbines between autumn 2021 and autumn 2022, reusing many components. The site uses 16 Siemens Gamesa SG 6.6-155 turbines, with plans to add two more turbines in autumn 2025. |
