Description
Description | The program to promote reproductive and family health in Guinea builds on FC's long-standing commitment to the sector. The core problems of the health sector include a desolate state of the infrastructure, chronic underfunding, especially of peripheral health facilities, and a lack of qualified personnel. This is reflected in the poor health of the population, particularly in the area of reproductive health. The aim of the project is to increase the supply of and demand for high-quality reproductive health services in the program regions and thus improve the health of mothers and newborns in the program regions. The target group of the project is the Guinean population in the program regions with a focus on women of childbearing age and newborns. The program consists of three components: the rehabilitation, expansion and equipment of peripheral health facilities (infrastructure component, component 1); a performance-based financing mechanism for the reimbursement of reproductive health services (reimbursement fund, component 2); targeted awareness-raising and communication measures to increase demand for reproductive health services (component 3). The funds of the current Phase III amounting to EUR 5 million are to be used in particular to take into account the need for infrastructure measures and, where appropriate, equipment at the existing eleven health facilities that go beyond the financial resources of Phase I (component 1). In addition, components 2 and 3 will be continued. |
