Due to the increasing forest fire risk in Europe, the climate change impact on the environment and the key issue of a rapid response, it is vital to have adequate capacities able to intervene all over Europe to extinguish fires. Therefore once more in the forest fire season 2021, as of June 15th 'til October 31st 2021 Italy will ensure rapid access to national aerial forest firefighting means to address temporary shortcomings in case of extraordinary forest fires, and it will also ensure a timely and effective response to the needs for the upcoming forest fire seasons by making available in rescEU transition response capacities composed of n.1· aerial forest firefighting capacity using planes module that will be registered in the European Civil Protection pool. Such a capacity indeed has all the quality requirements as specified in in the Annex of the Implementing Decision 2019/570/EU. Italy furthermore confirms to be capable of carrying out interventions such as pre-positioning, rapid intervention ((less than 24 hours) and deployment. The rescEUIT module will be strategically and geographically positioned in Ciampino, central ltaly, to allow for quick and effective deployment to different risk prone areas, mainly inside Europe.
