Description | With the implementation of the CUARENTAGRI project, it is intended to carry out a survey of pests that may affect the different regions that make up the study areas (Azores, Madeira, Canary Islands, Cape Verde and Senegal), either by imports of plants from third countries or by new communications between the different regions, which are increasingly frequent due to the tourist boom in these areas. Next, measures to reduce the risk of pest entry will be designed and established and alert networks for the early detection of pests will be established, contingency plans for the eradication of pests detected in the different regions will be developed. In short, the purpose of this project is to avoid/reduce the establishment of new harmful organisms in the different study areas, emphasising better training of competent technicians in the field and information to the sector and citizens in general. |
