Description
Description | La Rochelle Université proposes to develop a module on the European approach of resilience in the context of climate change. Climate change and environmental degradation represent an existential threat to Europe. Several EU documents have recently emphasised the role of “resilience “as a guiding principle and more specifically the European Green Deal, proposing a new growth strategy to transform the EU into a modern, competitive, and resource-efficient economy. Resilience is therefore at the heart of climate policies developed by the EU, both at internal level and in the framework of its external relations. The proposed module aims at training the students to better understand the risks linked to climate change and equip them with the tools to contribute to the necessary transformation of the society and the development of innovative and cooperative solutions at European level. The module will be open to students from all disciplines, enrolled in the first 3 years of university education. It will mainly target students who are not traditionally faced with European studies, especially students in science. Courses will be taught in French and English and will be complemented by field studies; a scientific symposium and a roundtable open to the public. This project on EU and climate resilience aims to lay the groundwork for the strengthening of European studies at La Rochelle, with the ambition to develop a more structured training offer in European Environmental and Climate studies, linked to the European university project EU-CONEXUS, coordinated by La Rochelle University since 2019. The involvement of the partners of the European University will be encouraged and strengthened throughout the project. The module will serve as a basis to inspire other thematic cooperation on resilience and adaptation to climate change with La Rochelle's European partners. |
