Description

Description

"National Socialist Germany committed the most serious violations of human rights in Europe with dictatorship, war of extermination and ""racial policy"", including genocide. Opposing these crimes, the orientation towards human rights and the restoration of justice guided the actions of people in the resistance. Although dealing with the resistance in Europe can make a significant contribution to democracy and human rights education, there are hardly any corresponding teaching/learning materials available so far. This is especially true for digital offerings. However, digital access not only offers the possibility of cross-border exchange, for example for transnational youth encounters, but also creates new access points for dealing with the historical subject in a comparative perspective and dealing with its significance for the present. In a transnational cooperation of different historical-political educational institutions, the first biographical materials have already been developed that address the resistance to the Nazi regime in France and Germany. Building on this preliminary work, the project will develop a pedagogical handbook for the implementation of learning opportunities in binational youth exchanges and other pedagogical settings at schools, memorial sites and other learning contexts. Two youth exchanges will be carried out, followed by five multiplier events and a final online-conference targeting more than 450 direct and 3000 indirect participants. Furthermore, a digital exhibition will be designed that offers young people interactive and multidimensional access to the persons of the resistance through different levels of mediation. It should be designed in such a way that it can also be transferred to other contexts, for example with a view to resistance biographies from other European countries. The partnership is supported by three French partners from Lyon and three German partners from Berlin, Leipzig and Hannover."
