Resolution Copper Mine Project

planned

The Resolution Copper block-cave mine project involves hollowing out the earth beneath Oak Flat, Arizona, which will create a large crater and consume significant water resources. The project includes constructing a 14-square-mile tailings storage facility known as 'Skunk Camp' near Kearny, Arizona. The mine's operation depends on obtaining numerous state permits and approvals, including land use authorization from the Arizona State Land Department. The project has faced opposition from local communities, Indigenous tribes, and environmental groups due to concerns about environmental impact, water consumption, and cultural heritage.
