The project aims to become the largest copper mine in North America, producing about 20 million tonnes of copper over 40 years. It has received environmental approval from the US Department of Agriculture, marking an important milestone for the joint venture. The project is located in the Tonto National Forest and has faced opposition from Indigenous and environmental groups. The joint venture has already invested more than $3.1 billion USD in the project.
