Response-Ability: Responsive Youth for Climate Action

The project “Response-Ability: Responsive Youth for Climate Action” aims at fostering youth networking, participation and action on the matter of Climate Change, contributing on one hand, to the general goal of the European Youth Together call to increase youths engagement in the European political debate and on the other, to the broader goals indicated in the European Green Deal to address the imminent danger represented by the global climate crisis. The rationale of the project, in line with the European holistic and comprehensive perspective, sees the two streams of general objectives as complementary and intersected with each other: increasing the youth ability to participate in the social and political life, locally and transnationally in Europe both as way to reconcile its often disrupted relations with grassroots, informal political streams of action and as a way to bring the European Green New Deal to the more capillary level of local actions and debates, where often the Europeans institutions are felt at their farthest from the EU citizen. The specific objectives of this project respond to a detailed and multifaceted analysis of the core problems and needs addressed by the project, starting from the needs identified by the European Youth Forum in regards of Climate Change, such as the increase of youths engagement on the matter, of the funds directed to the matter both by the EU itself and by the youth organizations and the push to a renewed commitment of the EU to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement. As already mentioned, the project rationale works in a two directional way, aiming to become through its activities a bridge between the many ladders of participation: as the needs analysis unfolds between the individual and the collective extremes of the specter through which the Climate Crisis is understood, so does the plan of action.
