The RAISE-UP project is a strategic response to challenges posed by the rapid, often unguided, proliferation of GenAI (GenAI) in higher and vocational education. The project directly addresses the urgent need for operational ethical and legal frameworks and structured capacity-building to bridge the widening gaps in digital skills, responsible AI deployment, and institutional preparedness. Through its evidence-based and policy-relevant approach, RAISE-UP not only supports the EU's digital and green transitions but also reinforces European values in shaping the deployment of GenAI in education systems. A strong consortium, coordinated by Riga Business School and involving partners from Latvia, Germany, Netherlands, Malta, Cyprus, and the wider Asia-Europe network, drives four strategic objectives: (1) creating operational guidelines for ethical and inclusive GenAI governance; (2) developing transferable, human-centric AI methodologies for risk and bias mitigation; (3) enhancing AI literacy and piloting technical, ethical, and governance competencies in business and technical education; and (4) producing evidence-based policy recommendations for national and EU-wide adoption. RAISE-UP’s activities include comprehensive large-scale needs analysis, co-design of ethical frameworks, development of inclusive AI toolkits, and hands-on piloting in regulatory sandboxes and AI literacy empowerment in diverse educational settings. All outputs are released as high-quality OERs, validated by experts and integrated into national and EU policy recommendations, ensuring broad impact and transferability, also beyond the EU. By equipping over 100 faculty and 1,800 students with job-relevant GenAI skills and engaging policymakers through targeted dissemination, RAISE-UP establishes new benchmarks for responsible AI in education, directly advancing Erasmus+ objectives for innovation, inclusion, and systemic transformation.
