The reltions of Comuna Mihaileni and Gabcikovo from Slovakia started in the 1990's years, which means that it has a long history and the partnership was alive during the european integration process of both Slovakia and Romania. The aim of the funders and first promoters of the twinning connection was to give citizens the opportunity to discover the cultural diversity of the European Union and to make them aware that European values and cultural heritage constitute the foundation for a common future, to share good practices and foster the citzens the sense of belonging to the EU. In the recent years, after Romania's admission to the EU and especially during the covid 19 pandemic the joint events, exchanges were postponed, therefore the connections between young citizens of the two settlements had shortcomings. The aim of our project is to restart the dialogue between the citizens to refresh this connection with new participants, mostly young people, to make them know each-other, each-other's culture and history, traditions and actual life. The importance of the reinforced partnership is to deal the growing euroscepticism and to promote the new narrative of Europe: citizen-oriented, equality promoting, forward-looking and constructive that would be more engaging for the younger generation in particular. rom the eastern point of view the Euroscepticism has mostly economical roots, the social improvements resulted in this part of Europe invaluable perspectives compared to previous periods. Therefore, it has a high importance to raise awareness about the social and community achievements in order to refresh the understanding and importance of Union in times of economic difficulties. The orgainzed debates, exchanges will be based on the concrete achievements of the EU, emphasizing the local benefits from the reconstruction of the infrastructure to the protection of natural and cultural heritage and the Citizens’ rights derived from EU law etc.
