The project aims to diversify Iraq's oil export routes and reduce dependence on the Strait of Hormuz. The pipeline, commissioned in 1952 with a capacity of approximately 300,000 barrels per day, was out of service due to damage and geopolitical conflicts. Restoration will require virtually a complete replacement of the 800-kilometer pipeline and could take two to three years. A consortium of American companies is planned to be involved in the reconstruction. |
