Description
Description | President Donald Trump has directed the Pentagon to restart nuclear weapons testing after a 33-year moratorium. Nevada, home to the Nevada Test Site (now Nevada National Security Site), is likely the preferred location for these tests due to its history and existing infrastructure. The site was used for over 900 nuclear tests, including above-ground and underground detonations, until testing stopped in 1992. The resumption of testing faces strong opposition from Nevada's legislature, political leaders, and community groups due to health, environmental, and economic concerns. |
