Built up sediment needs to be removed to meet the Ministry of Environment’s Environmental Compliance Approval (ECA) for stormwater management facilities. Excessive sediment needs to be removed to ensure that the pond is operating as per the approved design as failure to follow these requirements will result in ECA non-compliance. This also impacts pond function and increases operational costs for maintenance. Bank erosion and forebay berm require design/repair. The removal works are capitalized as they extend the life of the asset. |
