Description
Description | The dt-cz Grenzkamm geographically forms the core of the cross-border cooperation framework Čerchov plus with the Alliance Domažlicko. As a common natural and cultural area, he enjoys protected area status on both sides of the border (Cesky les, Natural Park Upper Bavarian Forest). Its exposed altitudes have been strategic points/landmarks in the dt-cz border area for centuries. In the recent past, especially the cz Čerchov and the dt Hohenbogen, with their military interception stations, have gained status as “truth signs” of the Cold War. However, this separation represents only a short section of the dt-cz history. Rather, the landmarks in the project area bear witness to a common border history: Beginning in the early Middle Ages, the topic of border security under Charlemagne (separation of the eastern border d. “Bohemian Mark”) acquires central importance. As a result (from 11. C.) a series of castles are created along the Bavarian-Bohemian border, whose remains are still visible today (e.g. castle ruins Herštejn/Drachenturm/Schwarzenburg, Burgställe Altenschneeberg and Bleschenberg). The eastern border, conceived as a bulwark, dissolves already in the Hussite period, in which important Bohemian and Upper Palatinate noble races (e.g. the Ronspergers on Hirschstein, the Guttensteiner on Schwarzenburg) use the castles as strategic bases of their warlike conflict “crossing borders”. Only after the 2nd A hermetic foreclosure of the dt-cz border is being carried out. But the need of people to look “to the other side” is unbroken, and it is precisely for this purpose — even supported by the American occupying power — “spectacles to look across the border” (Klammerfels, Bayernwarte). Under the guiding objective “from the border area to the meeting room”, these landmarks are to be revitalised as a common natural and cultural heritage and as witnesses of the centuries-old common history. This will be achieved through the following measures: — Structural security & revitalisation of the landmarks Herštejn, Altenschneeberg, Bayernwarte and Klammerfels (refurbishment of Dragon Tower and Bleschenberg outside ETZ funding provided for by state funds) — Development of a cross-border dt-cz information landscape and visitor management — joint tourist application and joint actions (e.g. light installation) for cross-border visualisation d. landmarks The added value of the project consists of long-term preservation and development of common natural and cultural heritage, raising awareness of common history as part of the regional identity and improving the organisational conditions for the cooperation of nature parks. In addition, the supra-regional awareness of the region can be improved. Target groups: Locals, tourists, dt and cz nature parks. |
