Description | The Curonian theme is relevant both for Lithuanians and Latvians since the Curonians inhabited current territory of both countries. With the help of arts, traditional crafts and soldiership the Curorian culture is being revived again. The project strengthens cooperation between Skuodas District (LT) and Liepaja District (LV) in the implementation of joint activities on the basis of common historical and cultural heritage. The project focus is organization of stone sculptor symposiums in Aizviku Park (Latvia) and Unique Stone Museum in Mosėdis (Lithuania) resulting in creation of 19 new stone sculptures, upgrading of tourist routes to the exposition sites as well as carrying out a joint festival of traditional crafts and soldiership in Apuole mound on the subject of the Curonians thus achieving an increased interest in the Curonian heritage and attraction of more visitors to the region. |
