Description
Description | Four underground parking lots in prime commercial zones of Chandigarh — three in Sector 17 and one in Sector 8 — are set to be revived by the Chandigarh municipal corporation under a smart parking initiative. The project involves design, development, implementation, and long-term operation on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The lots, originally built 50-60 years ago, were closed due to safety concerns flagged by an IIT Roorkee structural audit. The project timeline is 16.5 years, including 1.5 years for structural repairs and upgrades and 15 years for operations and maintenance. The revamped parking system will feature two basement levels, smart hardware and software installations, and a centralized Parking Operations Control Centre (POCC). |
