Economic/Social Impact of the Project The Maharashtra Maritime Board [MMB], a Govt of Maharashtra undertaking has proposed the development of a mega port within Mumbai harbour region. The Rewas Port, planned as a deep water multi purpose port, a non major port is being developed by MMB as PPP project under a BOOST concession agreement signed with Rewas Ports Limited [RPL]. RPL is the special purpose vehicle for the development, operation and management of the port. MMB has 11percentage of equity in the project. With a design handling capacity of 66 million tonnes in Phase I, the Rewas Port will endeavor in meeting the Ministry of Shipping ambitious target of 3.2 Bn tonnes of port capacity by year 2020. The ultimate capacity of Rewas Port [Phase I, II & III] would be approx 400 mill tons. [MbPT and JNPT presently handle about 58 and 65 mill tonnes of cargo respectively].
