Description

London-based shipowner RFOcean has signed a long-term, binding offtake agreement with e-fuels project developer ETFuels to buy green hydrogen-based methanol at a fixed price from 2030. RFOcean has ordered eight new methanol-ready chemical tankers built for the European regional trade, aiming to be one of the top five owners of methanol-capable vessels globally. The deal is driven by the FuelEU Maritime regulation in the EU, which mandates emissions intensity reductions for vessels over 5,000 gross tonnes by 2030 and 2035.
