Rice University Gateway Project

Rice University is planning a $120 million Gateway Project to redevelop the west side of campus and create a new connection between Rice Stadium and Rice Village. The project includes extending Amherst Ave. E to a new campus entrance, creating a pedestrian corridor with new drainage, sewer, and water infrastructure, supporting future retail, multifamily, restaurant, and grocery uses, and adding a new public greenspace for community events and performances. It also involves demolition of the Greenbriar Annex building, removal of the existing inflatable practice facility, renovation of Rice Stadium with new premium seating and reduced capacity, and construction of a new indoor practice facility.
