The project involves appointing an 11-member authority, conducting necessary studies including a state Department of Transportation study and a feasibility study by Holt Consulting Company, selecting a site among five considered locations, and securing Federal Aviation Administration approval. The airport will be for public use but will not provide scheduled passenger flights. Funding is expected to be 90% federal, with the remaining 10% split between state and local governments, and the authority authorized to issue revenue bonds and lease property to fund its share. |
