Description | The Nampa & Meridian Irrigation District is preparing for the irrigation season by starting to charge the Ridenbaugh Canal system and delivering irrigation water to customers. The canal system includes more than 500 miles of canals, laterals, and drains, serving about 69,000 acres of agricultural and residential lands in the Treasure Valley. Offseason work included replacing or repairing older headgates, rebuilding manifolds, updating filtration equipment, and replacing a 100-year-old flume structure. A modernization project for the Ridenbaugh Canal headworks in east Boise started in fall 2025 with funding from the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation and the Idaho Water Resource Board, slated for completion before the 2027 irrigation season. |
