RIGHTS is a nationwide initiative aimed at developing Malta and Gozo’s first child participation infrastructure, one that is based on the respect for children’s rights to participate in political and democratic life, and on the needs of the Country. RIGHTS will see to the establishment of a studied and evidence-based Children’s Council Policy and Procedures, a document that will act as a guide and training tool for those professionals working with children in their various capacities. The RIGHTS Children’s Council Policy and Procedures will clearly detail the manner in which the newly formed Local Children’s Councils, Regional Children’s Councils, and National Children’s Council will operate and carry out their tasks. The establishment of the Children’s Councils will see to the Country’s first nationwide initiative aimed at acknowledging, empowering, and giving a voice to children residing in Malta and Gozo at a local, regional, and national level. An initiative that puts children at the centre of all of its activities and which is driven by their participation in democratic life. RIGHTS is a joint initiative developed by the Malta Foudnation for the Wellbeing of Society, Ministry for the National Heritage, the Arts and Local Government, Ministry for Education, Sports, Youth, Research and Innovation, and Local Council's Association Malta.
