Description

Description

IGLYO’s objective is to strengthen the rights of LGBTQI+ youth, fight for equity and inclusion, and empower our LGBTQI youth voices. We strive to represent the diverse rights and intersectional needs of LGBTQI+ youth and we build the capacity and skills of our members, thus, raising our voice and visibility. Our mission objectives are: Rights and Empowerment for LGBTQI Youth. Specific Objectives: 1 Advance on the access and recognition of youth rights to achieve full equality without discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression and variations of sex characteristics with a particular focus on education, health, and hate crimes/hate speech/violence. 2 Train, support, and build the capacity of LGBTQI youth organisations, activists, leaders, and volunteers to represent, advocate for and serve our communities effectively, influencing sustainable societal change. 3 Maintain and grow an engaged, connected, and well-functioning pan-European network of LGBTQI youth organisations and activists. Relevance: Our work promotes the EU’s values of equality, non-discrimination, democratic dialogue, and respect for the rule of law. The project directly contributes to the implementation of the EU LGBTIQ Equality Strategy. It also contributes to the EU Gender Equality Strategy, the EU Anti-Racism Action Plan, the EU Strategy on the Rights of the Child, and the EU Youth Strategy. The project promotes equality and and combats discrimination through capacity building, research, advocacy, and communications. Activities: We produce evidence-based analytical research and advocacy messages, facilitate the active meaningful participation of LGBTQI youth, and develop compelling communications to reach LGBTQI youth and decision makers. We run large training, peer learning, and organisational development programmes and we work on making IGLYO an effective, empowering, functioning and well-informed network of members.
