The Town Twinning “Rights Beyond Borders: Human Rights as Pillars of Peace” promoted by Roccafiorita Municipality aims to bring together people coming from Italy, Romania, Spain, Portugal, Bulgaria and Malta. The venue of the activities will be in Roccafiorita, from 28 October to 2 november 2025. The project focuses on the European Union's fundamental values, such as peace, democracy, and tolerance. The current situation, exemplified by the Ukraine war, which has resulted in a humanitarian crisis right in the heart of Europe, highlights the need to hear the opinions of citizens. We must gauge their awareness of the significant historical and social dynamics that have shaped recent European history, including conflicts and peace processes that have profoundly influenced the social, economic, and cultural fabric of our continent. Our goal is to understand the long journey towards achieving peace in Europe, with a focus on the role played by the EU from its inception to the present day in promoting democracy and security across the continent. Our primary objectives are to raise awareness about the values, rights, and opportunities that the EU has created and to empower local citizens to become advocates for these values. We want them to feel like an integral part of the EU, and to find a sense of security under its banner. The town twinning helps the citizens to feel a sense of belonging to the EU and a better understanding of Citizenship in different way. In the project will be involved Municipalities and CSOs, the most relevant stakeholders, experts of the topics, citizens, young people and students. The program will be rich of activities, workshops, seminaries, round table, exchanges of best practices, meetings, multicultural dinner with ethnic fusion, debates, visits of the territory in order to foster interaction with the local community. It’s previous the participation of 105 international and 95 local participants, distributed equally among the partners.
