Description
Description | On November 14, 2004, the company Viabilis Infraestructura , S.A. de C.V. was officially awarded a BOT contract to build, own, operate and transfer a 26km greenfield urban toll highway by the Government of the State of Mexico through the state authority Sistema de Autopistas, Aeropuertos, Servicios Conexos y Auxiliares (SAASCAEM). The Autopista Los Remedios Ecatepec consisted of two phases: phase one was from Puente de Vigas a Calzada Vallejo (6km) and phase two was from Puente de Vigas to the Autopista México-Pachuca(20km). Various bridges and bypasses were necessary given the urban nature of the highway. In 2007, the Mexican construction company ICA SA de CV announced a 50% share purchase in the project company. It was not clear who Viabilis was owned by. Subsequently, ICA announced that on February 11, 2010 it closed a project financing for MXN 3 billion (US $237.3 million) in the form of a line of credit from Banobras, Mexico's infrastructure bank. Phase two was to have additional costs and was estimated at approximately MXN 3 billion. The first phase became operational and started charging tolls in January 2011 at a rate of 2 pesos per kilometer. In May 2012, ICA purchased the remaining 50% of shares from Viabilis in the project company. |
