Description | NextDecade is developing a fourth liquefaction plant (Train 4) at its Rio Grande LNG export project in Texas with a capacity of 5.4 million metric tons per annum. The project has secured up to $1.8bn in investment commitments from TotalEnergies and Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP). TotalEnergies will invest approximately $300m for a 10% stake, and GIP affiliates will contribute up to $1.5bn for a 50% stake, potentially decreasing to 30% based on returns. NextDecade plans to offer up to $1.2bn for a 40% interest, potentially increasing to 60%. Bechtel has been contracted for construction under a fixed-price agreement of $4.77bn valid until mid-September 2025. The project is located in Brownsville, Texas, with an initial phase one capacity planned at 17.6 mtpa. |
