Description | The Rironi–Mau Summit Highway project is a 175-kilometre road upgrade aimed at facilitating movement, boosting trade, and ending traffic gridlock. The project has been split into two contracts after the full-corridor deal collapsed. The first section covers 81 km between Rironi in Kiambu and Gilgil in Nakuru County, and the dualling of the Rironi-Maai Mahiu-Naivasha section stretches 58 km, costing Sh112 billion and taking two years. The second section is the 94 km Gilgil-Mau Summit road, upgraded into a modern dual six-lane carriageway. Investors will fund and operate the road for 28 years using tolls to recover costs. |
