Information RVNL - II has come up with Rishikesh-Karnaprayag New Rail Line- 125 km with a ticket size of 24659 INR Crores. This project in Railway Track sub-sector involves The current status of the project is Notice to Proceed and is being developed through the EPC route. Economic/Social Impact of the Project The proposed 125-kilometre stretch will have 12 new railway stations, 35 bridges as well as 17 tunnels. This Pragati project aims to extend rail connectivity to the Garhwal hills and connect the region with the plain areas. The construction of the railway line has been fast-tracked to improve movement to the Char Dham shrines of Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath, which are situated in the Garhwal Himalayas. This Broad Gauge [BG] Railway line between Rishikesh and Karnaprayag is a very important development project in the state of Uttarakhand. The project will facilitate easy access to pilgrims and reduce considerable travel time and cost. It will also provide opportunity for industrial development and cottage industry in the area as well as boost the economy and tourism prospects in the state. The proposed railway line will connect important towns like Rishikesh, Devprayag, Srinagar, Rudarprayag, Gauchar and Karnaprayag. In 125 km Rishikesh-Karanprayag new BG rail line project, the 1st Block section of 5.7 km between existing Virbhadra station and Yog Nagari Rishikesh Station [PK-1A] has been commissioned in March 2020. This also involved construction of one RUB across Bypass road to Rishikesh and one ROB across important road to Dehradun thus eliminating two level crossing. Train maintenance facilities have also being developed at Yog Nagari Rishikesh station.
