River Road West Drainage Improvements & Urbanization

This project includes the installation of stormwater management facilities, including storm sewers and quality control structures along River Road West (Brillinger Drive to Veterans Way). It will provide improved drainage facilities and stormwater quality control structures along the only Arterial Roadway in Wasaga Beach prior to its discharge into the Nottawasaga River. The Nottawasaga River ultimately discharges to the Nottawasaga Bay, adjacent to the Town’s Main Beach Area and Ontario Parks Environmental lands. The storm sewer installation will require the installation of curbs, gutters and sidewalks as part of the urbanization of River Road West, providing greater transportation safety for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists and addressing uncontrolled stormwater runoff along this principle transportation corridor. This project aligns well with the funding program in addressing improved access, increased mobility and extension of the life of the existing asset as well as collection, conveyance and treatment of surface water runoff before entering the Nottawasaga River. This project is also the highest priority road and drainage project in the Town’s Capital Works Plan.
