Description
Description | Project includes the upgrading and/or replacement of watermains on various streets within the municipal water distribution system in the Village of Riverside-Albert. It is proposed to replace existing watermains on Forestdale Rd. and a section of Water St., these watermains were installed over 35 years ago and currently do not meet the standards for a municipal water system and there is considerable lost water due to leakage. By replacing the aforementioned watermains, it is estimated that the current water consumption will be reduced by approximately 20%. This will protect the existing surface water supply, increase reliability, and reduce operating and maintenance costs. A critical connection also needs to be completed in the distribution system by installing a section of watermain along Route 114 along Forestdale Nursing Home and Horn Rd. At present, only one watermain connects two halves of the village and if it is out of service, approx. half the residents are without water.
