Riverwalk Flood Mitigation Project

The City of Brampton's downtown Riverwalk flood mitigation project involves construction work including bridge and road work, as well as widening and deepening the concrete channel that diverts the Etobicoke Creek around the city’s downtown to protect the area from major flooding. The project requires removal of hundreds of mature trees, including memorial trees, to facilitate construction. The first phase is expected to be completed by 2028, after which reforestation and addition of new paths, parks, and walking spaces will begin.
