Riverwalk Flood Protection Project Phase One

The City of Brampton has started construction on the first phase of the multi-year Riverwalk initiative, aimed at protecting the downtown core from future flooding and removing redevelopment barriers. The project involves modernizing and expanding flood protection infrastructure along Etobicoke Creek to exceed Ontario's regulatory flood standards and withstand severe storm events. Phase One includes deepening and widening the creek channel to reduce flood risk and unlock development potential, supporting growth for approximately 17,700 residents and 23,800 jobs, and opening up 3.6 million square feet of residential, commercial, and retail space.
