Having been awarded the Palme d’Or at Cannes Film Festival 2021 with Julia Ducournau’s Titane, Kazak Productions pursues its development of bold and innovative stories. The international recognition gained at Cannes has opened the doors to successful international coproductions, such as Corsage by Marie Kreutzer, furthering Kazak’s determination to elaborate European partnerships and enhance the scope of its intents. From its Rome headquarter, Kino Produzioni reaches out towards international partners and filmmakers. Its latest works, namely Carla Simons Alcarràs, winner of the Golden Bear at the 2022 Berlinale, shows Kino’s successful dedication in the production of meaningful auteur cinema. Kino supports emerging talents and impactful stories, often through international coproductions. These common intents, ranging from a desire to promote diverse voices to exploring human nature through unique modes of expression, are clearly defined in the project we are presenting for this European co-development call : Rivo Alto, Clément Cogitore’s 3rd feature film Clément Cogitore is a creator who uses various forms and narratives to express questions on humanity, society, and current affairs. Rivo Alto exhumes the origins of our modern civilization by recounting the foundation of Venice. The film will be shot in Italy and be entirely in Italian. By its artistic nature, the project was, from its conception, oriented to be a French-Italian coproduction. By its themes, production needs and border-crossing identity, Rivo Alto fundamentally unites Kino’s and Kazak’s intents to broaden their international outreach. As such, the project follows our common aim to treat contemporary issues in original and yet universal ways by promoting audacious authors and expanding their influence across borders. The ambitious and yet impactful scope of this project counts on Media to assert its impact and reaffirm Kazak and Kino’s intents to bring radical and meaningful visions to the big screen.
