Description
Description | The project proposes to expand approximately 29 kilometers of the Grid 700 road and additional 7.7 kilometers of the Range road 2060 to increase its capacity for all vehicles including farm equipment and heavy haulers over the next 20 years, as well as upgrade the roads to comply with the Transportation Association of Canada (TAC) Design Guidelines and improve safety. The exact nature of the upgrades will be dependent on a geotechnical investigation of the current roads structure and the required future Level of Service which will be determined during the pre-design phase of the Project. The roads will be expanded by increasing the roads structure width and roads structure depth. The roads surface will remain as traffic gravel with one traffic lane in each direction, but it will be expanded by approximately 1 to 2 meters. The scope of work for the project includes upgrading the roads to primary weight roads dimensions (able to handle the weight of heavy trucks, including semi-trailer trucks, which is not the case now), expanding the roads by increasing its structure width and depth, re-establishing the cross-slope and road crown to provide better water drainage, road earthworks, and all associated works. Associated works could include hauling material to strengthen the current roads structure and improving the roads geometry. |
