Description

Description

The purpose of the project is to replace the 6.96 meter timber bridge over an unnamed tributary of Long Creek constructed in 1962 with large diameter steel culverts. The bridge will be replaced with one galvanized steel culvert, where the culvert is 2700 mm in diameter, has a wall thickness of 2.8 mm, and is approximately 14 meters in length. The project will be taking place at the NW 09-6-17W2 on a road alignment controlled by the RM of Laurier. The land around the bridge is cultivated agricultural land. The gross drainage area affected by this tributary is 18 square kilometres. The timber bridge will be removed and any suitable material will be salvaged with the remaining materials at a waste hazardous disposal site in the RM of Lomond No. 36. The water may be temporary damned with earthen dike while work is being undertaken and a pump may be installed to ensure downstream flow is not impeded. An energy dissipation area will be installed if water is required to be pumped downstream. A culvert bed will be prepared with gravel and environmental matting used to stabilize the bank and the bank will be reseeded to grass.
