The Road Maintenance Project for Paraguay will establish a sustainable road management strategy that ensures the upgrading and maintenance of the road network through a rational and balanced use of scarce resources. The project consists of the following components: Component 1: will finance the strengthening of strategic planning, road conservation, and budget management within a framework of fiscal constraints; in particular, it will support a series of consulting services, training and goods. Component 2: this component has two subcomponents which complement each other (i) performance based contracts; (ii) toll system optimization. Component 3: will finance the rehabilitation and conservation of unpaved national roads that connect to the national paved network, and secondary roads connecting rural communities to these; and propose a comprehensive solution for improved access to isolated rural communities.
